| Foster
Care
As
a licensed child placement agency for the State of New
Mexico, children are referred to the program by the
Children, Youth and Families Department, Tribal Social
Services, Navajo Nation Social Services, or from voluntary
referrals through the New Mexico Developmental Disabilities
Waiver. ARCA Family Based Services strives to make a
perfect match between child and foster family. Foster
families are carefully screened and must undergo a lengthy
home-study process and pre-service training before a
child is placed. Once a child is placed with the family,
the foster parents receive unlimited 24 hour a day support.
Longevity and permanency are important goals of the
Family Based Services Team recognizing that it is very
important that a child is placed with the right family
to meet that child's individual needs. As a result,
numerous foster parents have either adopted their foster
child or provided care for extensive periods of time.
